5 Greatest World Cup Moments

  • Captain Cool Gets it BIG with World Cup 2011 Victory

Cricket world cup 2011 best moments

The country, alongside the Wankhede stadium crowd, erupted in joy and Sachin Tendulkar's dream of winning a World Cup was achieved. The master blaster was emotional with feeling after the match and the man who was scored more World Cup runs and hundreds of years than any other player was moved to say, 'It has been quite a while, and most likely the proudest day of my life'.

MS Dhoni was the Man of the Match for his staggering knock, which incorporated eight fours and two sixes. He has off and on again been known as a lucky commander, yet his innings on April 2, 2011 demonstrated that it was India that was the lucky one to have him as its pioneer.

MS Dhoni during the post-match presentation.
"If we hadn't won, I would have been asked quite a few questions: why no Yuvraj, why did I bat ahead? That pushed me and motivated to do well. The pressure had got to me in the previous games. In this game, I wanted to bat up the order and Gary (Kirsten) backed me. I had a point to prove to myself."

  • Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh Mark the End of the Aussie Era

Raina joined Yuvraj with India on a problematic 187 for 5 in the 2011 quarter-final match against Australia. Both men took their batting to the second gear, adding the 74 needed for triumph in only 61 balls, to end Australia's 12-year rule as World Champions.

India finished triumph in only 47.4 overs, setting up an elimination round go against Pakistan in Mohali – a match named the 'final before the final'. India hadn't been the best at the group stages, however this win showcased the team at its best' – and the conviction and energy produced took the side the distance to the world cup title.

Best World Cup Moments

  • A Partnership Not to Forget - Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly (1999 World Cup)

Dravid joined Ganguly in the first over after S Ramesh had fallen with the score 6 for 1. At the same time after that early achievement, Sri Lanka was made to hold up – and pursue calfskin – for 90 percent of the innings, with the Ganguly-Dravid join including 318 runs for the second wicket.

It remains the most highest partnership in World Cup history, and at the time it was the most highest in ODI history as well – and the first time a batting pair had put on more than 300 in ODI's.

Dravid, who would end the 1999 World Cup as the most noteworthy run-getter with 461 runs, was into his stride as ahead of schedule as the second over, pounded Pramodya Wickramasinghe for three fours. Ganguly was not to be beaten, carefully flicking the ball and notably going out to spinners – including the incredible Muttiah Muralitharan – to store the ball into the stands for 7 sixes.

  • Ashish Nehra Destory England with a 6 Wicket Haul (2003 World Cup)

Nehra, who came into the match with a swollen lower leg, played his ten overs straight after Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan had limited England at an opportune time to 28 for 2 after 12 overs.

This was when Ashish Nehra was asked to bowl. Throughout the following 10 overs which he knocked down some pins straight was a staggering showcase of impeccable left arm crease playing 10 overs straight through to end with the fantasy figures of 6 for 23, which are still the best analysis by an Indian in World Cup history.

His victims were just about all gotten behind the wicket as England's batsman couldn't adapt to the edge of the ball running over them from Nehra's left-arm over the wicket plot.

  • The Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar Does it Again(2003 World Cup)

Tendulkar had turned out with expectation, yet despite the fact that he lost Virender Sehwag early and Sourav Ganguly fell first ball, India's Little Master was in the zone, with nothing apparently influencing his focus.

Each run accompanied exactness and beauty, it was an innings of extraordinary magnificence as he touched the ball around the ground; the main hindrance he confronted was from leg issues towards the end of his innings.

There was at that point a jamboree environment at Centurion, with Indian and Pakistani fans filling the stadium to the overflow, and Tendulkar treated the individuals who had gone to one of the best innings in World Cup history.
